Explore and Enjoy Biking the Old Motu Coach Road
The Motu Trails are centered around the pre-European Maori trails and historic Old Motu Coach Road route, which until the mid-20th century, were the only overland routes between the Bay of Plenty and Tairawhiti or Poverty Bay. The area is steeped in Maori history stemming back to some of the earliest arrivals of Maori to Aotearoa New Zealand in 1200 AD when the first of many waka/canoe arrived along the coastline of the Bay of Plenty to this luscious and food-laden land. click here for more info
